Upsi-Sponsored Aapo Karhi Ready for Home World Championships Challenge
Jul 27, 2025
Longtime Upsi user and newly sponsored player prepares for the 2025 PDGA World Championships on familiar Finnish courses.
As the 2025 PDGA World Championships prepare to begin next Wednesday in Tampere and Nokia, Upsi Disc Golf's newest sponsored player Aapo Karhi is embracing what he calls "every little boy's dream": competing in a home World Championships. The seasoned Finnish competitor, with 128 career events and 12 victories under his belt, recently shared his excitement while practicing at Nokia's famous course "the Beast," on the Upsi-sponsored hole #9 which he enthusiastically dubbed an "Upsi hole" in his characteristic style.
Karhi's partnership with Upsi Disc Golf this season represents the formalization of a relationship that began long before any sponsorship discussions. The dedicated player has been using the Upsi platform for nearly eight years, making him one of the app's most experienced advocates.
"I've been using Upsi for almost eight years now," Karhi explained in his video message. "It's in use on every practice round, training round, or just casual rounds." This authentic, long-term relationship with the platform made the sponsorship decision natural for both parties.
"I love the putting stats – maybe the best feature in my opinion," Karhi shared, highlighting how Upsi's detailed analytics have supported his consistent performance over the years. This statistical focus has been instrumental in maintaining his competitive edge throughout 128 career events.
The timing of Karhi's sponsorship couldn't be more perfect, as Upsi Disc Golf also serves as an official partner of the World Championships. The tournament's Finnish venues hold special significance for Karhi, who has been methodically preparing with practice rounds at both Nokia and Tampere courses. After Thursday's initial training session at Nokia, Karhi plans to practice in Tampere before taking a strategic rest period at home, then returning for final preparations ahead of competition.
"Hopefully we'll see lots of spectators here," Karhi noted, encouraging fans to witness the world-class competition firsthand. "Come say hello to everyone – let's meet up out there."
